Domestic violence remains one of the biggest social problems in Montenegro this year.
Data for the first nine months show that more than two thousand cases of domestic violence were initiated.
According to data from the NGO "Safe Women's House", from the beginning of the year to today, 50 people have been accommodated in their shelters in Podgorica alone, of which 26 are women and 24 are children.
While the Ministry of Justice is announcing new criminal offenses with the aim of better protecting women, the NGO sector is saying that institutions should review the way they determine the removal of perpetrators from the apartment where the victim of violence lives, and they emphasize that greater attention should be paid to women who have survived femicide in the coming period.
