Zeta terminates contract with BTC carrier; Asanović: Podgorica-based company "Putevi" takes over lines from January 15th

As of January 1, the Municipality of Zeta terminated the contract with the transport company BTC, which operated on the Podgorica–Mataguži, Podgorica–Berislavci and Podgorica–Bijelo Polje routes. After this decision, buses operate exclusively to the center of Golubovci, which left the residents of these settlements without direct public transportation to their homes.

Citizens point out that an additional problem is that there is no organized taxi service in the territory of Zeta, as well as the fact that they were not informed in a timely manner about the cancellation of the lines. As a result, some locals were forced to walk or find other ways to get to the first bus stop in the center of Golubovci, in order to get to work, the health center and other obligations.

The President of the Municipality of Zeta, Mihailo Asanović, said that citizens will not be offended by the situation, considering that the previous days were holidays. He announced that from January 15, the Podgorica-based company "Putevi" will take over these lines, noting that the ticket price will be half the previous price.

"I hope that it will start on January 15th and what I want to tell the residents of Zeta is that students will be exempted, i.e. that their transportation will be free, that pensioners will have free transportation, that monthly tickets will be 25 instead of the 50 euros they have been paying so far. We will pay subsidies to Putevi, so that our citizens are satisfied. We conducted some research that showed that 80 percent of Zeta citizens are dissatisfied with transportation. You know that Zeta is still not demarcated from Podgorica and that according to the Law on Territorial Organization, Pogrorica can carry out activities on our territory and we will very soon sign an agreement with the company Putevi in ​​the next two or three days," said Asanović.
