Although formally protected as a nature park, the "Ulcinj Saltworks" is still without a manager and funds, which has been threatening its unique ecosystem for years. However, after years of stagnation and uncertainty, an agreement was signed between the Government, the relevant ministry and the Municipality of Ulcinj, which paves the way for the establishment of a company to manage this area, as well as the restoration of salt production. The formation of a joint venture is expected soon. What does this step mean for Ulcinj, how will sustainable management of the Saltworks and nature protection be ensured?
