The demolition of part of the DG Arena stadium in the Podgorica settlement of Donja Gorica began today, reports Televizija Vijesti.
The machines were ready this morning, but then dissatisfied citizens, mostly children who train at the stadium, their parents and coaches, blocked their path and did not allow them to pass, reported TV Vijesti reporter Marija Radović at the time, adding that the police were also expected to arrive.

However, those gathered will not cause any major problems unless the peaceful protest stops the demolition, said earlier today on Boje jutra on Vijesti Television, director of the Podgorica Football Club Mirko Uskoković.
He said at the time that the Capital did not accept the invitation to discuss alternative solutions.

The Capital City announced that the facility is obstructing the flow of water towards the Morača, which was evident during the floods, while the proposal to relocate the canal at its own expense was rejected by the Čelebić company.

While the Podgorica Football Club says that by removing the controversial parts, the field will lose its UEFA dimensions, activist Aleksandar Dragićević expects the demolition to take place, and that this shows that the laws must be respected.
"As part of the letter, we proposed two project solutions to solve this problem, where the canal would also have its function. And, of course, the terrain would retain its dimensions," Uskoković said in Boje jutra.
He said that they proposed the option of moving the canal five meters wide and 30 meters long and then returning it to its original state.
"That was one option, and the other option was to go through underground pipes and bypass the concrete fence," said Uskoković.
Dragićević said that he thinks that "if the state falters here, how will you come to anyone tomorrow for any demolition, especially when it comes to the usurpation of state property and an infrastructure project that is under special protection and has special significance."
"Vijesti" announced this morning that the "Čelebić" company claims that the stadium in Donja Gorica was built "in accordance with valid permits" and that they are ready to relocate the canal at their own expense, due to which the demolition of the floodlights and part of the sports facility is scheduled for today.
They called on the authorities to abandon the demolition.
Podgorica Deputy Mayor Boris Spalević announced a few days ago that the floodlight and part of the DG Arena stadium will be demolished, and that those who, as he said, allowed these illegal structures to be built will be held accountable.
Spalević also announced to TV Vijesti that he would hold those in authority who should have known that the sports field in the Mareze canal in the Podgorica settlement of Donja Gorica was illegally built criminally liable.
