Kaluđerović: Jojić is a candidate for minister, the status of the Serbian language does not hinder the EU path, no one wants early elections

"I don't see a reason why Milatović returned the laws, when we are going to vote for those laws again without a debate, and they are crucial for our European path... It's better to have laws, they will be corrected, of course they are not perfect," said the SNP MP.

Zoran Jojić, an SNP official from Berane who has until now been the general director of the Directorate for Sports, is one of the more serious candidates for Minister of Sports and Youth, confirmed the party's MP Slađana Kaluđerović in the show "Reflektor" on TV Vijesti.

"The SNP operates on the principle of decision-making in party bodies, and we have a significant number of personnel who can respond to that position," she said.

Kaluđerović added that she sees no reason why Jojić would not be acceptable to Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.

"Mr. Jojić is someone who is always in favor of compromise and does not create division either in the party or in the public," she pointed out, adding that a decision on who will fill the vacant ministerial position will be made soon.

Kaluđerović claimed that it was not true that the atmosphere in the party was not great, not even around the election of the party's vice president.

"The situation in the SNP is completely normal... We have all the decision-making mechanisms, the current political situation and personnel solutions are discussed by the Presidency, which has nearly 30 members, and after that we go with a proposal to the Main Board," she said.

Speaking about the decision of President Jakov Milatović to return 25 adopted laws to the Parliament for reconsideration on Monday, she said that she did not understand why this was done.

"I don't see a reason why he brought them back, when we are going to vote for those laws again without a debate, and they are crucial for our European path... It's better to have laws, they will be corrected, of course they are not perfect," said Kaluđerović.

When asked whether the MPs had read those laws, she replied that they had, "to the extent possible."

Speaking about the Democratic People's Party (DNP) leaving power at the state level, as well as in the capital, Kaluđerović said that it would not be appropriate for this to happen in other municipalities where that party is in power.

"I don't think it's good to push the envelope, because then you'll have a crisis of power in all municipalities. I'm saying this for purely rational reasons. Although we often cheer for some drama on the political scene, it's not good for the state or the municipalities to have so many early elections," she said, expressing her belief that early elections are not in anyone's interest at this moment.

Speaking about the DNP's demands related to the flag and the status of the Serbian language, Kaluđerović said that the argument that this is hindering Montenegro's European path is absolutely unfounded, and that the SNP is not in favor of indefinitely postponing these topics.

"We need to resolve the issues that divide us. You cannot resolve issues by sweeping them under the rug or saying we are not interested in the results of the census... It is a matter of democracy, a civic concept. You cannot say that you are a civic state and yet discriminate against a language that is the majority, because it is put in the background compared to Montenegrin," she said.

Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) MP Aleksandra Vuković Kuč, while appearing on "Reflektor", warned that Andrija Mandić will have even greater influence in the ruling majority after the DNP leaves power.

"The government of Milojko Spajić is now dependent on the president of the New Serbian Democracy, Andrija Mandić, and his deputies, their agenda, their will, their program... We will only have to look at all the demands," she said.
