The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence is already affecting device prices. RAM has more than doubled in a year, which is why the price of phones and computers is expected to increase by 10 to 30 percent in 2026.
"Training and using AI models requires huge amounts of expensive HBM memory, which is more cost-effective for manufacturers than classic RAM memory for consumer devices. As a result, the supply of traditional memory has decreased, while demand has remained the same, which has directly led to price increases," explained Andrija Vučković, a computer science expert, in Boje jutra on TV Vijesti.
In addition to higher prices, an additional problem could be a decline in quality, especially with mid- and low-end phones and computers.
