Despite the seasonal fishing ban, poaching on Lake Skadar does not subside even during this period.
In less than three months of this year, 37 reports were filed, while there were 68 during the entire last year.
Although the law provides for fines and the possibility of imprisonment, practice shows that sanctions are most often reduced to paying fines, while the same names are often repeated among the perpetrators.
Poaching is a problem in other locations as well, and inspectors issued 100 misdemeanor warrants worth €66,500 last year.
