And while there is speculation as to whether the songs of Baja Mali Knindža will be heard in Pljevlja on May 21st, it is clear that on Podgorica's Independence Square, in addition to Ricky Martin and Robin Schulz, the best composition dedicated to the state's jubilee will not be heard that day.
The competition for the best composition, which thematically, artistically and productionally corresponds to the celebration of 20 years since the restoration of Montenegro's independence, was announced about twenty days before the celebration, and lasts until May 29th.
When asked why it was not announced earlier, so that the composition could also be performed during the central celebration, Minister of Culture Tamara Vujović said that there is no need to delay the competition because the anniversary is celebrated all year long. And when and if it is selected, the author of the best composition will receive a prize of 5.000 euros and free production.
"The whole year is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the restoration of independence and it's great that we at the Ministry of Culture came up with the idea of promoting original music, by an author from Montenegro, and together with Pam, who is the protector of the copyrights of those who create music... We decided not to rush into that part and that the song does not have to be ready and the winner announced before May 21st, but that the song will mark the entire year. So I hope that we will enjoy a beautiful song for the anniversary all year long," said Vujović.
