Councilors in the Municipal Assembly (MA) of Zeta voted today on a declaration annulling the decision to recognize Kosovo in the territory of Zeta, without the presence of councilors from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), while two members of the Democratic Montenegro left the session before the vote.
"Who is 'for'... I note that the assembly, with 19 votes 'for', no votes 'against' and no votes 'abstain', adopted the declaration on the annulment and non-recognition of the decision to declare the independence of Kosovo and Metohija," said Aleksandar Kojičić, president of the Zeta Municipal Assembly (MA).
The declaration was voted for by councilors from the Democratic People's Party (DNP), New Serbian Democracy (NSD), Marko Vukčević from Democratic Montenegro, and independent councilors Nikola Rajović, Svetozar Ulićević, and Lidija Panić.
The proposer, Nebojša Nikčević from the DNP, stated that the Declaration is a form of solidarity with the Montenegrin and Serbian people in Kosovo.
"The Zeta Municipal Assembly calls on the government of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić to pursue a balanced foreign policy and not to vote for decisions in international institutions and organizations that are directed against the interests of the citizens of Montenegro and the neighboring and brotherly state of Serbia," said Nikčević.
Luka Krstović from Democratic Montenegro regrets that the Zeta Assembly is making decisions that have no weight, one of which is the ban on the construction of a collector in Botun. He asked the NSD councilors to raise the issue of demarcation of the three municipalities, Zeta, Tuzi and Podgorica, instead of adopting the Declaration, which has no explanation.
"The process of demarcation between the municipalities of Podgorica and Tuzi will be completed in two months at the latest. The demarcation will follow the borders of cadastral municipalities and I am afraid that we will then be deprived of a part of our territory. We will not have the possibility of demarcation with Tuzi, only with Podgorica. Let's do something useful for Zeta and we will have time to do this too," said Krstović.
The President of the Municipality of Zeta, Mihailo Asanović, admitted that he entered politics because of the recognition of Kosovo. He believes that the decision of the Zeta parliament will be followed by other municipalities, as well as the state parliament. He responded to Krstović's proposal on demarcation.
"He has no reason to call on the New Serbian Democracy from Zeta, but let him call on his own at the state level and at the local level in Podgorica. I will remind you that the DNP no longer exercises power in Podgorica. One of the reasons was the demarcation, which has not yet happened, as well as many other reasons. But I call on him to react with his councilors' club in Podgorica so that this demarcation is not allowed," said Asanović.
The Municipal Assembly session began with a minute of silence in honor of the residents of Zeta who died in Plavnica, but during the session, congratulations were also poured in for the local football club, which triumphed in the neighboring municipality.
