Fashion designer Marina Banović pointed out in "Colors of Morning" on the Vijesti TV program that during the prom and semi-prom season, more and more young people are choosing to buy ready-made outfits, while custom-made clothing is less common, primarily due to availability and prices on the online market.
"Today, young people have access to models from various online platforms that are significantly cheaper, and this is greatly affecting the market," said Banović.
Speaking about the prices of prom dresses, she explained that the range varies greatly depending on the material, the complexity of the workmanship, and the wishes of the clients.
"Dresses can cost from 100 to several thousand euros. When it comes to more complex models, hand finishing, crystals and higher quality materials, the price increases significantly because every detail affects the final look and work," she said.
Banović pointed out that the line between festive and excessive cannot be universally defined, as it depends on taste, but also on age.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, the difference between semi-prom and graduation is visible, younger girls choose simpler and more appropriate combinations, while at graduation parties there is more freedom, so sometimes there is exaggeration," she said.
She particularly emphasized the role of parents in the entire process, emphasizing that their presence and consent should be mandatory, especially when it comes to minors.
"For me, the rule is clear, there is no agreement without parents. It is important that children know where they come from, what they choose and who they cooperate with," said Banović.
Finally, she added that a festive look does not necessarily mean a big budget, but good choice and moderation.
"There is always a way to look elegant and festive on a smaller budget. The most important thing is to find a balance between age, occasion, and style," she concluded.
