Lukšić: Tourists are increasingly entering dangerous parts of the coast, more and more interventions are being carried out on the coast

Although the main summer season has not yet begun, the Maritime Safety Administration is already recording several interventions on the Montenegrin coast.

Assistant Director Žarko Lukšić said in "Colors of Morning" on TV Vijesti that weekends are the most critical, with the most calls and rescue operations, and warned that the most risky spots are Ada Bojana, Bečići, Buljarica, Petrovac and the area around Crni Rt.

"Vessel owners must take care of the safety, fuel and navigation rules, and swimmers must not stray outside the permitted zones. The number 129 is available 24 hours a day," he said.

He stated that tourists are increasingly entering inaccessible parts of the coast, which leads to risky situations, such as the case in Čanj when two foreign citizens were rescued from cliffs, as well as the intervention in Sutomore when a vessel ran out of fuel.

Speaking about cruise ships, he pointed out that the arrival of around 550 ships in the Bay of Kotor does not pose a security risk, and that the AIS system allows for real-time monitoring of vessels and recording of irregularities, with fines ranging from 500 to 3.000 euros.
