Perić rejects claims that he is the DPS candidate: Preokret still adheres to the principle of "no one with anyone"

Leader and councilor of the Upheaval Movement, Srđan Perić, said on Boje jutra on Television Vijesti that he does not expect any surprises during today's vote for the President of the Capital City Assembly.

He rejected the claims of the current majority that he is the candidate of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), saying that such assessments represent a defense of partitocracy, with the assessment that the alternative that is being attempted to impose leads to the introduction of coercive administration.

Perić pointed out that Preokret still adheres to the principle of "with no one", and that this position has not changed, emphasizing that the goal of the proposed model is greater transparency and strengthening control over the work of city institutions.

According to him, the priority should be the mayor's report and the introduction of accountability and performance criteria.

He recalled that 36 out of 59 councilors expressed opposition to the introduction of compulsory administration.

"Let's wait for the vote, let's wait for the results of the vote, the feedback I received, if people keep their word, we have no problem with that, I have no reason to believe otherwise. I repeat, we are in Montenegro, let's wait for the results of the vote," Perić said.

The session of the Capital City Assembly, which will decide on the election of the speaker of the local parliament, begins at noon.

Perić's election was supported by several political entities, and if all announced votes are confirmed, he could secure the necessary 30 votes.

Among those who previously announced their support was Movement for Podgorica councilor Dragutin Vučinić, who later announced that he would not attend the session because he was in Belarus.
