Radulović: The emergency room in Budva has up to 70 visits a day during the summer, with younger and younger drunk minors

The summer tourist season also means the most intensive period of work for the teams of the Emergency Medical Service in Budva.

During 24 hours, they perform between 50 and 70 examinations in the clinic, 10 to 15 field interventions and several transports to hospitals, said the head of the Budva unit, Mitar Radulović, while appearing on Boje jutra on Vijesti Television.

He warned that in recent years the number of interventions due to excessive alcohol consumption among minors has been increasing, stating that children as young as 13 years old are among the patients.

"In general, there are between 50 and 70 examinations in the clinic in 24 hours, plus about 10 to 15 field trips. We always have three to four transports to the Kotor Hospital Center, Cetinje, and sometimes Bar, so we have quite a lot of work," said Radulović.

According to him, during the season most calls are about drunk people.

"It's dozens of calls every night. It's mostly the same story - they've finished going out, someone got sick and can't get home," he said.

It is particularly concerning, he points out, that the age limit for minors who end up in the emergency room due to alcohol is moving downwards.

"Specifically, as far as my shifts are concerned, the youngest child we took care of was 13 years old. We are shocked every time we see it, but, unfortunately, it has become a regular occurrence. It's not always about 13 or 14-year-olds, but 15 and 16-year-olds are regular patients during the season," said Radulović.
