Work on the construction of an oncology day hospital at the Bijelo Polje General Hospital will begin on July 20, announced Kenan Erović, the director of the institution, for Boje jutra on TV Vijesti.
The project, worth 550 thousand euros, should enable patients from northern Montenegro to receive therapy in their own city, without having to travel to other health centers.

This is just one of the projects through which, according to the director, the Bijelo Polje General Hospital is striving to become a modern medical center of the north. In the past five years, around five million euros have been invested in this institution, and new wards, modernization of operating rooms and the purchase of an MRI are planned.
"We based the development of the hospital on three key areas - infrastructure, modern medical equipment and investment in staff. The goal is for the citizens of the north to receive quality healthcare in their institution," said Erović.
In addition to the oncology day hospital, the plan is to build a new neurological department, for which 220 thousand euros have been provided, as well as three new operating rooms worth one and a half million euros. The hospital also expects to implement the project to purchase an MRI scanner, which has been in preparation for several years.
"The MRI room has been secured, as well as the training of the staff who will work on the device. Its acquisition would significantly improve diagnostics and treatment of patients," said the director of the Bijelo Polje General Hospital.
