"BMW Izeta", two-seater, with one door on the front, sixty-three years old, was declared the oldest, but at the same time the most beautiful car at the exhibition of old timers in Berane.
The owner of this quite unusual four-wheeler, with rear wheels that have a smaller axle and span than the front ones, is Petar Laković from Kuč.
He told the portal "Vijesti" that he has participated in many exhibitions, but that this is the first time in Berane and that he is very satisfied with the award.
"As you can see, the car is completely in drivable condition, it has three hundred cubic meters and develops a speed of up to a maximum and engraved hundred kilometers. However, when I go to exhibitions, I transport it on a trailer to the destination and back. I want to preserve it as long as possible" , said Lakovic.
The "Opel Rekord", about ten years younger, with Pljeval registration plates, owned by Dragutin Janjušević, was declared the most original car at the exhibition.
The exhibition of old timers in Berane was organized for the first time six years ago and has already become traditional and recognizable, as the only one of its kind in the north of Montenegro.
The organizers are the Municipality of Berane and the Tourist Organization of Berane, and the director of TO Berane, Ivan Radević, expressed satisfaction with the great interest.
"With this exhibition, we wish to preserve the memory of a long-ago time and to preserve these beautiful four-wheelers, many of which are older than us, from oblivion," said Radević.
Almost thirty cars participated in the exhibition of old timers in the main and promenade streets in Berane this year. After the end of the exhibition, accompanied by the police, they made an honorary ride through the streets of the city.
Car mechanics, whose special attention was drawn to the exhibition, explain that the preservation of old-timer cars is particularly difficult, i.e. that ideal conditions are needed, which are not easy or cheap to provide, so this hobby is quite expensive.
