Peruničić will defend himself from freedom

The former director of the National Security Agency (ANB), Dejan Peruničić, will defend himself on bail, it was confirmed by the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT).

Peruničić was brought to the SDT this morning for questioning due to suspicions that during his mandate the ANB wiretapped special prosecutors.

Perunicic was arrested yesterday.

SDT announced that a criminal complaint was filed against Peruničić for the criminal offense of abuse of official position.

"Due to the interest of several media, we inform the public that in the case of the Special State Prosecutor's Office formed against DP, a criminal complaint was filed for the criminal offense of abuse of official position, and the said person was deprived of his liberty, and brought to the Special State Prosecutor's Office for hearing within the legal deadline of October 22.10.2021, 175 , in the capacity of a suspect. During the presentation of his defense, the suspect answered all the allegations from the criminal complaint and answered the questions of the special prosecutor, so after the hearing it was assessed that there are no legal grounds in terms of Article XNUMX of the Code of Criminal Procedure, for the detention of the mentioned person," it says in the SDT announcement.

At yesterday's SDT press conference, Prosecutor Miroslav Turković said that Peruničić is suspected of having committed the criminal offense of abuse of official position by wiretapping the office of Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoj Katnić.

TV Vijesti recently announced that a listening device was found in Katnić's office last week.

Katnić said yesterday that they are investigating whether the death of former high-ranking official of the secret police, Luka Bulatović, is connected to the wiretapping affair.
