Thirteen people were arrested this morning in the north of Montenegro by order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (STP).
Officers of the Special Police Department (SPO), according to "Vijesti" data, made the arrests in Pljevlja.
Several houses and apartments in that city are being searched. According to unofficial data, it is an action to combat human trafficking.
One of the sources told Vijesti that it is a multi-month action carried out by the Department for the fight against crime, the Special Police Department, the Group for the fight against human trafficking and the Border Police Department of the Special State Prosecutor's Office.
Several arrested persons were brought to the headquarters of the SPO.
The Special State Prosecutor's Office announced that on their order, the Special Police Department, after several months of joint activities with the Crime Fighting Sector and the Border Police Sector of the Police Administration, deprived 13 persons of their freedom (IM, AH, EH, SHB, Ž.B., Đ.K., RA, DB, MR, BK, BJ and BG) and against them, as well as against: SR, who is on the run and two unknown persons, filed a criminal complaint, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed criminal acts criminal organizations and illegal crossing of the state border and people smuggling.
"The subject of the criminal report is the activity of a criminal organization during last year until October of this year, which was organized by the suspect IM and an unknown person, and whose members became the other suspects and other unknown persons, with the aim of committing the criminal offense of illegal crossing of the state border and people smuggling. and for the purpose of smuggling people from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Syria and other countries to Montenegro and which was engaged in the illegal transfer of a large number of people across the border of Montenegro and enabling others to illegally cross the border or illegally stay or transit, for a total of 352 persons, for the purpose of obtaining financial or other benefits", said SDT.
The police will take the suspects for questioning within the legal term.
V. d. assistant police director Lazara Šćepanović said that thanks to the EU4FAST regional project, a command and coordination center was formed within EMPACT, in which members of EUROPOL and FRONTEX participated, who, together with members of the Montenegrin police, checked the data collected during the mentioned action in real time.
