The President of the Municipality of Ulcinj, Genci Nimanbegu, called on doctors, the Bar General Hospital and the Ministry of Health to respond urgently and institutionally to the death of a mother in labor from Ulcinj, Drita Tafa.
The RTCG portal announced last night that the woman in labor died in the Bar hospital, which was reported by the media. The municipality indicates that Nimanbegu did not state in his response that the woman in labor from Ulcinj died in that hospital.
Tafa died in the Clinical Center, and was previously treated in the hospital in Bar.
Nimanbegu wrote on Facebook last night that the citizens are shocked and are looking for an answer as to why the tragedy happened. He called on the health authorities to give an answer.
The director of the Bar hospital, Igor Karišik, told the RTCG portal that he will respond to the accusations against the hospital tomorrow after inspecting the medical documentation and talking with the competent gynecologist and the head of gynecology.
The RTCG portal reported, citing unofficial information, that a 35-year-old woman from Ulcinj died of sepsis after the birth of her fourth child.
"Today, the whole of Ulcinj is shocked by Drita's loss of life. A mother of three children and an exemplary wife. The citizens of Ulcinj, and especially her family members, need answers as to why this tragedy happened," Nimanbegu wrote on Facebook.
He emphasized that there is no place for politics and populism.
"Simply, the health institutions need to give us answers - in this case, the doctors, the Bar hospital and the Ministry of Health must react urgently and institutionally," he said.
According to him, the municipality of Ulcinj will contact all the necessary institutions under its jurisdiction.
"For years we have been looking for raising the level of healthcare in our municipality. The government now has an obligation to react," Nimanbegu concluded.
When the RTCG Portal asked Karisik to explain why Tafa died, he said that he would answer after inspecting the medical documentation and talking with the competent gynecologist and the head of gynecology.
