All persons detained at the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions (UIKS) have ended their hunger strike, the institution announced.
"All detainees at UIKS have ended their strike," the UIKS statement said.
"Vijesti" reported earlier today that the majority of detainees in the Remand Prison who were on hunger strike ended their protest today, after the President of the Higher Court, Zoran Radović, negotiated with them today.
According to Vijesti, he spoke again today with Mario Milošević, Milan Brajović, Goran Rakočević and Dimitrij Dapčević.
Vijesti learned that Radović promised the detainees that he would start resolving their requests as soon as possible.
The strike of detainees in the Podgorica Remand Prison began on April 10, when 163 people went on strike, while earlier today the UIKS announced that 35 people are still on strike.
The UIKS said at the time that the Podgorica Remand Prison was visited today, together with the director of the UIKS, by the President of the Higher Court, who is responsible for supervising detainees.
"During the visit, the President of the High Court held talks with several detained persons. According to the information received, 35 detained persons are currently participating in the strike, out of the total number of those who previously started the strike. In this regard, persons who continued the strike will be under constant supervision, while their health condition will be continuously monitored by the Health Care Sector," UIKS said earlier today.
