A police officer from the Mojkovac DT Security Department knocked down a pedestrian in the center of Kolašin on Sunday, April 13th.
Testing determined that the off-duty police officer, who was driving a private car, had a blood alcohol concentration of 2,69 g/kg at the time of the accident.
The misdemeanor judge fined him 1.200 euros.
As the Police Directorate told "Vijesti", the accident occurred on Kolašin's Fighter Square, and the woman he knocked down was transported to the Kolašin Emergency Medical Service for examination after the accident.
"Police officers from the Kolašin Security Department arrested DT for committing a violation of the Road Traffic Safety Act, as the test determined that the person had a blood alcohol concentration of 2,69 g/kg. The misdemeanor judge will later rule on the amount of the fine for the person in question. The prosecutor on duty at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kolašin has also been informed of the incident," the police department announced.
They state that a medical examination determined that the injured party had no injuries, while the acting state prosecutor will subsequently decide on the possible qualification of the criminal offense after additional medical examinations.
"The Police Directorate will decide on any further measures and actions in relation to the DT officer after the acting prosecutor has made a statement regarding the incident in question. The Police Directorate will consistently and indiscriminately apply regulations and exercise its powers towards all citizens, perpetrators of criminal acts or misdemeanors, regardless of their work engagement," the UP said.
As the Basic State Prosecutor's Office told "Vijesti", DT was "detained that same evening and brought before a misdemeanor judge in a summary procedure for driving under the influence of alcohol."
As they explain, "with regard to the existence of a criminal offense, the prosecutor has not yet made a statement because the injured party had no injuries during the first examination, but reports are awaited after the imaging tests are performed."
The prosecutor on duty, they explain, was not informed that the police officer who caused the accident tried to leave the scene.
