The border police in Nikšić seized an Audi A48 vehicle with German license plates from Albanian citizen RC (8), which he does not own.
As announced by the police, the vehicle was checked at the joint border crossing Vraćenovići - Deleuša, upon exiting Montenegro, and a check through the police's electronic records revealed that an international search had been issued for the Audi by the NCB Interpol of Germany.
"Officers of the Border Police Sector carry out daily intensified activities aimed at suppressing and detecting all types of cross-border crime with an emphasis on combating smuggling, and as part of these activities, members of the Regional Border Police Center 'Centar' seized a luxury vehicle at the border crossing for which an international search has been launched," the Police Directorate said in a statement.
It is added that, acting on an international warrant, the vehicle in question was temporarily seized and handed over to officers of the Nikšić Security Department for further checks.
"Officers of the Border Police Sector continue with increased activities to secure border crossings, and other coordinated inter-sectoral measures and actions are being implemented aimed at combating smuggling and detecting and sanctioning perpetrators of criminal acts," the statement concludes.
