The Special Police Department (SPO), acting on the orders of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT), arrested three people in Nikšić today - NP, GO and DP, in a new wave of investigations into a network of criminal organizations involved in cigarette smuggling.
Criminal charges have been filed against them, but also against DV, B.Č, DV and V.Ž, who are in custody in other criminal proceedings or on the run.
SPO officers conducted searches at several locations in the city.
This is another new case by the SDT, which since February 2024 has opened several special investigations and filed several indictments against criminal organizations that were involved in the illegal cigarette trade and thus damaged the state budget by tens of millions of euros.
"On the order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, the Special Police Department deprived NP, GO and DP of their liberty, and filed criminal charges against them, as well as against DV, B.Č., DV and V.Ž., who are in custody in other criminal proceedings or on the run, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of creating a criminal organization and the continued criminal offense of smuggling. Previously, the Special Police Department conducted searches of apartments and other premises used by persons deprived of their liberty, in order to collect evidence of criminal offenses and items of importance to the proceedings," the SDT announced.
The suspects will be questioned at that prosecutor's office.
