Bar police seized five firearms and more than 270 rounds of ammunition yesterday, while SN (39) and PM (26) from that city were arrested for testing positive for cocaine.
The Police Directorate announced that yesterday they conducted a "targeted operation in Bar aimed at locating and arresting internationally wanted persons, controlling members of organized crime groups, and persons of operational interest and those connected to them."
"Police officers in the town of Tejani, Bar municipality, conducted a search of a residential building used by ZV (41) from Bar and on that occasion, in addition to him, they also found the following persons in the building: SN (39) from Bar, E. Č. (42) from Bar - a member of an organized criminal group, and VM (35) from Podgorica - a person of operational interest," the statement reads.
During the search, a Czech Zbrojevka 75 pistol with a magazine containing 10 rounds of ammunition, as well as a spare magazine with 10 rounds of ammunition, was temporarily seized from SN. After collecting information, a Browning pistol with 89 rounds of 7,65-millimeter ammunition and 94 rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition were also seized from SN. SN has a valid firearms license for the aforementioned weapon.
Also, during a search of the facility, 31 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers were seized from the ZV, which, after criminal processing, were determined to belong to Baranin PM. After the information was collected, three hunting rifles of the Benelli, Beretta and Browning brands were seized from PM, as well as 39 pieces of ammunition, for which he has a firearms license.
The State Prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bar stated that there were no elements of a criminal offense in the incident. Due to the violations committed under the Weapons Act, misdemeanor warrants were issued to SN and PM from Bar.
Also, as part of the aforementioned activities, SN and PM were tested for the presence of psychoactive substances in their bodies, and were found to be positive for cocaine, for which they were arrested.
"Regarding the seized weapons and ammunition, the Bar Security Department will send a notification and a request to the competent Regional Unit for Civil Status and Personal Documents to initiate administrative proceedings in order to review the issued approval and permanently confiscate the weapons, bearing in mind that the persons were previously sanctioned for misdemeanors based on drug abuse, and the imperative norms of the Law on Weapons which stipulate that due to drug abuse, the fulfillment of the conditions prescribed by the Law on Weapons ceases," the statement reads.
