He must not come near him again: Balić will defend himself from freedom after injuring a medical technician

The Basic Court in Bijelo Polje imposed a supervision measure To Omar Balić (22) from Bijelo Polje, for physical assault on a hospital technician Predrag Milicevic.

As Vijesti learned from the Basic Court, it consists of "a ban on access to and meetings with the injured party Milićević, who is not allowed to approach him at a distance of less than 100 meters."

According to investigators, on April 28, Balić first cursed and threatened the chief technician of the Internal Affairs Department, and then physically attacked him and hit him in the head.

"From the criminal report and the annexes to it, it follows that on April 28, at around 4:14.20 p.m., in front of the Public Health Institution General Hospital in Bijelo Polje, the suspect approached the chief technician of the Internal Medicine Department of the PM, who was in front of that department, insulted and threatened him, and then punched him in the head and nose area," the Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) previously stated.

According to Vijesti, it all started in the ward when doctors and medical staff, in accordance with the current regulations on the prohibition of visits, prevented two people (a man and a woman) from entering the hospital premises and visiting an elderly female family member, who had since passed away.

The incident occurred in broad daylight, and the attacker, according to unofficial information from Vijesti, was the grandson of the deceased patient.

Dissatisfied with the staff's decision, and after hearing the news that their close relative had passed away, these individuals began verbally provoking them from the direction of the park, and soon after intercepted Milićević, who was trying to retreat back towards the Internal Affairs Directorate.

"In an attempt to avoid a conflict, I started to retreat towards the door of the Internal Affairs Office, which my colleagues had opened after hearing shouting and swearing. I tried to say that we were just following the rules of the service and to push him away," said Milićević, explaining that at that moment the man punched him hard in the nose.

After being detained by the prosecutor, Balić was released to defend himself from prison, subject to the aforementioned supervision measure. The hospital management appealed for the protection of medical workers.
