A Lebanese citizen, who has been married to a Montenegrin citizen for six years, was seriously injured on June 24 in a traffic accident in the Kotor settlement of Kavač, when, according to a member of her family, a truck weighing about 15 tons crashed into her car.
The family does not know whether the truck driver has been detained, and the public has not been informed about the case yet.
The Police Directorate did not respond to "Vijesti's" questions regarding the accident.
A family member of the injured woman told "Vijesti" that the accident occurred on June 24th at around 5:08 p.m., while she was returning home to Tivat on a narrow local road through Kavač.
"She was driving very slowly, because the road through Kavač is only about four meters wide. As she carefully navigated a tight curve, a large truck hit the side of her car, right on the side where she was sitting," said a family member.
As he said, there is a sign on that section of the road prohibiting traffic for vehicles over 5 tons.
"She suffered severe injuries to her face and ear, had serious cuts and tissue loss. Her ear was almost torn off. She lost consciousness due to her injuries," a family member said.
According to him, the injured woman was first transported to the hospital in Kotor, but was then urgently transported to the Clinical Center of Montenegro in Podgorica, where she underwent surgery.
"In Kotor, they found that they did not have the appropriate equipment for the operation. At around 8 p.m., she was transferred to Podgorica by ambulance, where she underwent surgery at around 1 a.m. to reconstruct her face and ear," the source said.
He states that the woman spent five days in the hospital, and that doctors determined that her eardrum had ruptured and that it was uncertain whether her hearing would return.
The family claims that her health condition deteriorated further two days after the accident, when she began vomiting and losing consciousness again, after which doctors diagnosed internal bleeding in the brain.
A family member of the injured woman says they are particularly concerned that there has been no official public information about the case so far.
"We do not know why the public was not informed. The investigation, as far as we know, is still ongoing, but the truck driver has not been detained, nor, according to the information we have, has he been questioned about why he was driving on a narrow local road intended for passenger vehicles, instead of the main road," he said.
"Vijesti" asked the Police Directorate whether they could confirm that the traffic accident occurred in Kavač, what has been determined so far about the cause, whether the truck driver has been questioned, what is the status of the proceedings, and why the public and media have not been informed about this case.
