The mother of a minor victim of sexual violence has ended a hunger strike that she began this morning in front of the Basic and High Court buildings in Bijelo Polje.
She decided to do so after being informed of the decision of the Higher Court in Bijelo Polje, which rejected the request for a postponement of the sentence of convicted Milojica Vujisić.
She started a hunger strike because Vujisić has not been sent to serve his prison sentence, even almost a year after he was sentenced to five years in prison for that crime.
She began a hunger strike at the same location last Friday (September 4), but then ended it several hours later after receiving firm assurances from the President of the Higher Court, Milan Smolović, that she would implement all legal measures as soon as possible to have Vujisić (85) sent to serve his sentence.
The mother asked the authorities if they would have reacted more quickly and effectively if their child had been a victim of sexual violence. She stressed that she would not give up until Vujisić was behind bars.
The victim's father claims that Vujisić's sons are trying to secure medical findings that would allow the convicted man to avoid going to prison, which is why, as he told "Vijesti", he fears that he will evade justice.
The Basic Court briefly informed "Vijesti" that the appeal against the decision rejecting the request for a postponement of the prison sentence of the convicted Vujisić arrived at the court today.
The appeal was immediately forwarded to the High Court for a decision. Although the deadline is three days, the High Court emphasized that it will make a decision as soon as possible.
The victim's mother announced last Friday that, unless the convict is behind bars, the strike will resume on Monday.
"They told me that the police had already been to him and that he had been served with the decision. I decided to accept Mr. Smolović's proposal and wait until Monday, when I will come back to court to await the final decision, and I hope that his appeal, if he files one, will not be accepted and that he will be taken to prison on Monday," the victim's mother said at the time.
The Supreme Court of Montenegro sentenced Milojica Vujisić (80) to five years in prison for the crime, and the mother, whose name is known to the editorial staff, said that she will not give up until this person is sent to support, because the safety of her child, who is in a severe psychological crisis, is at risk, especially since the convict is only 50 meters from their house.
"Although he was convicted in October last year, he has still not been sent to serve his sentence. I am forced to fight for my child in this way," she said, adding that the sexual abuse of her child lasted for about two years.
In a response to "Vijesti" from the Basic Court in Bijelo Polje, it was announced that on August 31, the son of the convicted person submitted a request to that court for a postponement of the five-year prison sentence to which his father was sentenced.
"On the same day, this court issued a decision rejecting the request as unfounded. The convicted person has the right to appeal the said decision within three days from the date of receipt of the verdict, to the Higher Court in Bijelo Polje. The said decision was sent on the same day, however, we have not yet received a return receipt stating that the convicted person received the said decision. I emphasize that since the convicted person lives in another city, the delivery is via the Post of Montenegro," the Basic Court in Bijelo Polje stated in its response.
The court explained that the convict was not sent to serve his sentence because he filed a request for a postponement of the execution of the sentence, which postpones the execution until the decision becomes final, all in accordance with Article 19, paragraph 7 of the Law on the Execution of Prison Sentences, Fines and Security Measures.
The Supreme Court of Montenegro has confirmed the verdict of the Court of Appeals, which sentenced Vujisić to five years in prison, Vijesti learned from a source at the High Court in Bijelo Polje.
The Higher Court in Bijelo Polje has twice acquitted the accused in this case, finding that there was insufficient evidence of guilt.
A key turning point occurred before the Court of Appeal, which accepted the prosecution's appeal and on May 27, 2025, reversed the decision of the Bijelo Polje court into a conviction.
The final legal epilogue followed before the highest court. On October 27, 2025, the Supreme Court confirmed the verdict of the Court of Appeal, making Vujisić's five-year prison sentence final.
According to the indictment, he committed the criminal offense of unlawful sexual conduct against a child under the age of seven between 2020 and 2022.
