Former mayor of Budva Municipality Milo Božović, Mileta Ojdanić, as well as two former UP officers Vladimir Bajčeta and Milan Popović, have been remanded in custody on suspicion of having played a role in the "General" case.
The detention of Božović, Bajčeta and Popović was ordered by the criminal pre-trial chamber of the Higher Court in Podgorica, while the detention of Ojdanić was ordered by the investigative judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica, Goran Šćepanović.
Božović, Bajčeta, Popović and Ojdanić were arrested this morning upon leaving the Supša detention center, on the orders of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, which is charging them as part of the international operation "General".
The four of them were supposed to be released today by force of law because the Higher Court in Podgorica has not issued a first-instance verdict in the "police cartel" case three years after the indictment was filed.
They are on trial in that case on charges that Ojdanić and fugitive police officer Ljubo Milović organized a group that smuggled 4,3 tons of cocaine from South America to Europe.
