The Bijelo Polje Half Marathon and the "Run and Move" street race, which were organized by the Center for Sports and Recreation, ended with the presentation of cups and valuable prizes to the best.
In the men's competition of the First Bijelo Polje Half Marathon, first place was won by Kennedy Kipkemoi Rono, second by Hillary Kiptum Maiyo Kimayio, while third was Albert Kipkorir Tonui.
In the men's competition, the best Montenegrins were Edis Dautović - the first to cross the finish line was Brano Baltić, in second place, while Petar Rajković was third.
Valentine Jebet was the first to cross the finish line in the women's competition, Jacinta Kavinda Paul was second, while Mercy Chemutai Koech was third.
In the women's competition, the best Montenegrins - Rada Miladinović was the first to reach the finish line, Magdalena Trifunović won second place, and Ana Dabović third place.
The Public Institution Center for Sports and Recreation emphasizes that they are satisfied with the organization of this sporting event and the large turnout of fellow citizens in the race for pleasure.
"I would also like to personally thank my family here. That is my message, and my participation in this race is dedicated to my Iskra, Simona and Tamara, who were a great support to me when I was facing a great challenge that is behind me. Every step I took today was for them and I love you very much," said Marko Maslovarić, director of the Center.
Opening the sports event that gathered a large number of participants in the city square, the Mayor of Bijelo Polje, Petar Smolović, said that today we are celebrating the most important date in the recent history of Montenegro - Independence Day, and wished all participants a warm welcome to the city of sports, unity and youth.
"It is a day of pride, but also a day when we remind ourselves how important unity, harmony, will, and shared energy are for the advancement of the values that are today the symbol of this race. 'Fun run Trči 2025' is not just a sports event, but a message of health, solidarity, and good energy. I am especially glad that children, families, parents, recreational athletes, and everyone who wants to give themselves a day to smile and be healthy are here today. I am proud that Bijelo Polje is becoming a gathering place that celebrates sports and national values. Dear runners, enjoy every step, run at your own pace, and let today be a reminder of how wonderful it is to be part of a community that cultivates a healthy spirit and an open heart," said Smolović.
Maslovarić pointed out that today we celebrate a day that symbolizes freedom, dignity, integrity, but above all, togetherness.
"These are the values shared by sport, which is why we have traditionally organized this race for years with the aim of all of us celebrating this great, brightest holiday in the recent history of Montenegro, but also to celebrate movement, movement, physical activity and health above all else. It is also our mission to popularize recreation and sport, as top values, and in this way we will make the greatest contribution to our society by building a healthy foundation for future generations," he said.
Congratulating the country on Independence Day, the director of the "Run and Move" street race, Darko Raičević, also sent his congratulations to the competitors in today's race.
"I wish the guests a pleasant stay in our city, and I wish all competitors to achieve the best possible result. May the best win," Raičević emphasized.
During the day, a cicibanki race, cicibana, and a school race for the Fastest "Super Student" (Female), and the Fastest "Super Student" (Male) were also held.
