On the threshold of the main tourist season, the Old Town of Budva has been without water for more than 36 hours.
Although the Budva Waterworks announced last night that the damage to the network had been repaired and water had been released into the system, the Old Town is still without water.
The tourism industry was the one that suffered the most problems yesterday, with caterers bringing water in canisters, and half of their product range was discontinued, because without water they could not offer it to guests.
Even the toilets in the bars were not functional for guests.
The leader of the "Movement for the City" voter group, Stari Grad resident Đorđe Zenović, recalled that last year, Stari Grad had no water during the season twice in about 10 days because a pipe burst in the same place, 15 meters from yesterday's two breakdowns.
"Sveti Stefan was experiencing breakdowns for 5-10 days throughout the entire last season. Dubovica is also not far behind us, and Velji Vinogradi and other settlements are only at the back. Aside from the technical sector workers who have been digging with their hands and feet in this hell since yesterday morning and trying to repair the faults, the management of Vodovod did not feel it appropriate to bear objective responsibility, nor are the project supporters heard. They came forward around May 21st with two or three pictures of flags and disappeared to share the depths. I have not noticed that other cities have breakdowns this often. Hotels, restaurants and other service facilities are prevented from operating and suffer significant damage, tourists have great memories of Radanović, through blocked roundabouts, wandering cattle on the main road, through construction machinery and having to shower on a fire truck. And what else can we talk about?" Zenović wrote on the social network Facebook.
Last night, at around two o'clock after midnight, the teams of DOO "Vodovod i kanalizacija" Budva continued their activities in the Old Town.
As stated by this municipal company, the reason is a new fault at a distance of 10 meters compared to the last one, which was repaired late last night.
"Users in the Old Town, surrounding tourist and catering facilities are again without water. Teams are working hard to repair the damage at maximum capacity. Normalization of supply is expected in a few hours. In order to overcome the interruption in supply as easily as possible, the Protection and Rescue Service vehicle is still on the ground," announced the Budva Water Supply and Sewerage Authority.
