The fire in the settlement near the "Deponija" company in Podgorica has been extinguished, the acting commander of the Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City, Nikola Bojanović, told Vijesti.
He said earlier today that he was placed under control.
"It is still smoldering due to huge piles of tires and garbage. We can safely say that there is currently no fear of the fire spreading," Bojanović said earlier today.

"We called the police and the environmental inspection. We demanded that the Ministry of Defense cooperate with us in protecting the 'Landfill' and its surroundings. They told us that it was not a territory of public importance," said Božović.
He thanked the Protection and Rescue Service and said that "Deponija" fully complied and that the employees of that company were the first to start extinguishing the fire.
