The sea water is safe for swimming and recreation

Sea water at Montenegrin beaches is sanitary and safe for swimming and recreation.

This was shown by the results of the seawater quality analysis for 114 locations, which was conducted by the Institute of Marine Biology in the period from June 16 to 17 of this year.

"The results showed that at 86 percent of locations, seawater was of excellent quality, at 4,4 percent of locations it was of good quality, and at 9,6 percent it was of satisfactory quality," the Public Enterprise (PE) Morsko dobro announced.

The classification of bathing water within this year's Sanitary Quality Monitoring Program for Seawater is carried out in accordance with Article 8 of the Rulebook on the manner and deadlines for implementing measures to ensure the preservation, protection and improvement of bathing water quality, which classifies bathing water as: "excellent", "good", "satisfactory" and "bad".

"In the municipality of Ulcinj, the Sea Water Sanitary Quality Monitoring Program is being implemented at 18 locations, at 16 locations the water was of excellent quality, and at two good. Out of a total of 15 locations in the municipality of Bar, at 11 of them the water was of excellent quality, at one good, while at three locations the water was of satisfactory quality. When it comes to the municipality of Budva, the Program is being implemented at 34 locations, and at all locations the water was of excellent quality. In the Bay of Kotor, in the municipality of Tivat, out of a total of ten locations the water was of excellent quality at nine of them, and of satisfactory quality at one. Analyses showed that in Kotor the water was of excellent quality at ten locations, and of satisfactory quality at five locations. In Herceg Novi, water was sampled at a total of 22 locations, of which 18 were of excellent quality, at two locations of good quality, and also at two of satisfactory quality," the Coastal Zone stated.
