Gorčević: The voice of Montenegro is heard today with special attention and respect

Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević assessed that May 9th is not just a European holiday, but that it is "a day that reminds us that the greatest historical stories began in countries that believed in their future."

As announced by her department, Gorčević, together with the Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, and the Deputy Head of Mission of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, Riccardo Seri, opened the traditional EU Fair in Podgorica, where, as part of the central celebration of Europe Day, the embassies of EU member states, institutions, EU projects and local producers presented themselves.

The Minister said that Montenegro's path towards membership is no longer just a state goal, but a civilizational change created by people with sufficient knowledge and courage, because they know that this country can be part of the most successful community of modern democracies.

"Therefore, this generation has an obligation to leave the young a fairer country than they found it. Especially since the feeling of belonging to Europe is most recognized among young people: through the languages they speak, the plans they make, and the belief that they can live and create in Montenegro," said Gorčević.

She emphasized that it is also particularly symbolic that this year Montenegro is chairing the Berlin Process and bringing together regional and international leaders at the European Union - Western Balkans Summit.

She said that this is not only a political moment, but also confirmation that the voice of Montenegro is being heard with special attention and respect today.

"I believe that the year 2028 will have a special place in the history of our country as the year in which we will become the 28th member of the European Union. I am certain that with our identity, culture and sense of freedom, we will enrich the community to which we have long belonged in terms of values," said the Minister of European Affairs.
