All trains from Podgorica to Nikšić and Bar have been canceled this morning, as well as the lines from those cities to the capital, and passengers are transported by organized buses, "Vijesti" has learned.
A source from Railway Transport also told "Vijesta" that wrong investment repairs have been done on the trains so far, so the company currently does not have enough capacity to run a full timetable.
The railway transport officially announced that the CAF electric trains are in the Podgorica depot due to a temporary technical malfunction and that they expect the malfunction to be rectified as soon as possible.
They said that one train has already been repaired and that it will be included in regular traffic on the route Podgorica - Bar - Podgorica from 12:55 p.m.
"ŽPCG AD Podgorica, as the public already knows, has at its disposal a limited number of rolling stock needed to carry out the existing timetable. In case of failure of any of these vehicles, we are forced to organize alternative bus transport for users of our services. All ŽPCG trains are maintained regularly and according to the valid Rulebook on the way of maintaining railway vehicles and accompanying procedures, and only those vehicles that are completely safe for the transport of passengers can be included in the traffic," the announcement reads.
They say that due to a temporary technical malfunction of a part of the EMV (electric motor trains), yesterday there was a disruption in the traffic on the route Podgorica - Nikšić - Podgorica, and on that route an alternative transport of passengers by buses was organized. Also, as they said, for the same reason, an alternative bus service was organized today on the route Podgorica - Bar - Podgorica.
"ŽPCG is making maximum efforts to eliminate technical defects as soon as possible. Currently, CAF EMVs are in the Podgorica depot due to a temporary technical malfunction, and we expect that the malfunction will be removed as soon as possible. One EMV has already had the malfunction removed and will be included into regular traffic on the route Podgorica - Bar - Podgorica from 12:55 p.m. as train number 6155," the announcement reads.
They apologized to the users for the inconvenience arising situations forced to organize alternative bus transportation.
"ŽPCG, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, is making efforts to overcome the current situation to the satisfaction of users of our services, and in the coming period with new EMVs that will soon be acquired through credit funds obtained from the EBRD bank," said ŽPCG.
