Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Joković said that he hopes that the Proposal on Amendments to the Forest Law will enter the parliamentary procedure in the coming days.
Today, he met with representatives of citizens involved in logging, who are "unsatisfied with the underallocation and dispatch of privately owned logging," the Ministry announced.
"Minister Joković received foresters' representatives, emphasizing that he fully understands their dissatisfaction and stressed that the Ministry is doing everything to resolve their situation as soon as possible in accordance with applicable regulations. He emphasized that he hopes that the Proposal on Amendments to the Forest Law, which will find a solution to the current situation, will enter the parliamentary procedure in the coming days," the statement reads.
Joković emphasized that he is "absolutely on the side of the foresters," and that he hopes that the transfer for this year will be made possible as soon as possible.
"After meeting with their representatives, Minister Joković came out in front of the institution to address the gathered citizens and acknowledge their dissatisfaction, promising to do everything possible to ensure that amendments to the Law are adopted by July 1st, which would enable the aforementioned activities to be carried out unhindered," the statement reads.
Residents of Nikšić villages who are engaged in logging and selling wood in private forests have repeatedly blocked traffic, demanding that they be allowed to log in private forests.
They announced that if they do not receive a positive response to their demands by June 16, they will organize a protest in front of the relevant ministry and ask Joković to say "which law can endanger people's existence."
One of the locals said at the protest on the 9th that Joković should resign if he "is not capable of solving the problem in half a year", and "someone else will come in his place, who will finish it".
