The solo exhibition of the works of Ivana Mašanović, a student of the third grade of the "Niko Rolović" Gymnasium, will be opened today in the exhibition hall of the KIC "Budo Tomović" at 19 p.m. This exhibition consists of 20 works, and Mašanović reveals how he came to exhibit them at the KIC:
"I have always looked at my works as an intimate part of my personality, something that is delicate and difficult to understand even for me. Admittedly, I never even asked to understand. The most important thing for me was to create, so for whatever reason it started. I recognized the need for my works to be hung in a place where a wider circle of people would have the opportunity to look at them, I wanted to give them the opportunity to see what I created through my own eyes and understanding. When a person wants something passionately, all he needs is effort and good people who support him, one of those wonderful people is Tamara Radusinović, who helped me a lot in realizing my ideas", says Mašanović, whose works are dominated by black and white.
"For some things I like to say that I don't know and that I have no need to find out. I've never tried to figure out the reason for some little things, whether it's finding the answer to why I write songs, why I listen to rap, why I collect cacti, or why I paint in black and white. To define is to limit. The threshold of human needs is far away, but the most important, at least for me, is the need to express oneself as a free being. I made it possible for myself by expressing myself through these colors from the earliest days. It can be said that limiting yourself with two colors is not a very reliable definition of freedom, but if the pair of wings that we have been given serves a purpose and makes us happy, then that is all that is needed", believes Mašanović.
"It would be enough for me to explain the continuous dominance of black and white, which continues to this day, with the very fact that they have not let me down since the first meeting. They keep me with me and don't leave my palette or my mind," she adds.
Ivana strives to achieve a revolution of emotions in people, and as she says, each of her works represents "a reflection of something that exists in her and that managed to be uprooted to the visible world".
"However, we all know that the root can also have a healing effect", emphasizes the artist.
"The one who stands in front of the work first sees himself and then the artist. Artists create mirrors, and each reflection depends on the person standing in front of the work. When I said that I strive for a revolution of emotions in people, I meant the fact that people forget that they have to feel, a plastic world is one in which we run away from negative emotions without realizing that they are crucial for creating a healthy character. No matter what my works evoke in people, no matter how scary or happy the emotion is, the most important thing for me is that it is sincere. The well of the human soul is deep, and if my work can contribute at least one drop so that it does not dry up, then that is more than enough for me to understand the value of the need to create", concludes Mašanović.
Her works will be exhibited in the hall of KIC until April 7.
