One of the most famous sevdah artists today, Damir Imamović, can boast that his recently released album "Singer of Tales" is very successful, and this is best confirmed by the award he won - the German Grammy. After spending July at the top of the Transglobal World Music Charts international release list, and after four months at the very top of the European World Music release list, Damir's new album continues to attract attention.
The National Association of Music Critics annually nominates music albums published in Germany. This prestigious institution this summer nominated Damir Imamović's album 'Singer of Tales' for its award in the category of traditional music, and at the weekend the news arrived that the Bosnian artist is also the winner of this prestigious award.
"I thank the German Association of Music Critics who nominated me for the award and, in the end, voted for me. This is a reward for the entire team that worked on the album. I can't wait to mark the end of the coronavirus pandemic with a big tour, which we postponed for understandable reasons", says Damir.
Damir recorded his seventh consecutive album 'Singer of Tales' with an international team consisting of American double bass player Greg Ken, Istanbul musician Dernja Turkan and violinist Ivana Đurić, a member of Damir Imamović's band Sevdah Takht. The album was produced by the famous London producer Joe Boyd and Andrea Goerlter, and is published by London's Wrasse Records. The album "Singer of Tales" is the result of three years of work, and there are 11 songs on it. The project was inspired by the book of the same name by Albert Lord.
