This year's Nikšić Guitar Festival, which has been very successfully organized for the 17th year by the NGO "Anagastum Guitar Society", will be held from October 6 to 9 and will gather performers from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Germany and Montenegro.
The festival will be opened by the strings of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, who will perform some of the most famous compositions by artists such as Vivaldi i Sorkocevic.
"The orchestra represents an important part of the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Dubrovnik and Croatia, which this year marks the 97th anniversary of its active work. The guitar soloist will be a Polish artist Bianka Salads, the winner of last year's International Tivat Guitarist Competition", reads the press release of Gitar Fest organizers.
Friday, October 7, is reserved for the program segment "Festival plus", in which he will perform Damir Imamovic sa Ivan Đurić (violin) i Benjamin Drijenčić (trumpet).
"Imamović is one of the most successful artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, a representative of sevdah whose interpretation has been described by critics as revolutionary for this genre. He is the winner of the award for the best artist of Europe in 2021", the organizers stated.
On the first two evenings, the concerts will be organized in the Nikšić Theater, while on October 8, in the "Zahumlja" hall, one of the "world's most recognizable Montenegrin guitarists" will perform. Goran Krivokapic.
"Setting new standards with technical virtuosity and his characteristic interpretation of new and old repertoire makes him one of the leading guitarists and chamber musicians of the new international scene," the announcement states.
The last night of the festival is reserved for young Montenegrin guitarists who will also perform on the "Zahumlje" stage.
All concerts start at 20 p.m., and admission is free.
Patrons of the 17th edition of Guitar Fest are the Municipality of Nikšić and the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro, with the support of the Nikšić Theater and the Cetinje Music Academy.
