Vojo Stanić enriched Montenegrin art with a special dimension of content and artistry, Matica Montenegrin announced.
"The news of the death of Voj Stanić was received with special sadness in Matica Montenegrin. The famous painter was one of the initiators, friends and loyal members who rejoiced in every success until his last breath. As one of the candidates for the first president of Matica, in his own style responded, 'I'm not your boss,'" the announcement states.
They said that his home in Herceg Novi was an institution of Montenegrin cordiality.
"We were welcomed by open-hearted people of spirit from the city and the world and left enriched with a new dimension of humanity, a unique philosophy and an optimistic irony towards art. During his lifetime, he built a monument to humanity," it added.
"The painter of the Mediterranean climate managed to, in an apparently naive manner, reconcile Montaigne's pathos and heroics with the tameness of coastal irony. Stanić also left an author's mark on his time in sculpture and books of aphoristic philosophical attitude towards people and phenomena," the announcement reads.
Matica Montenegrin said that Stanić was a mirror of fairness, steadfast and collected in every situation when the Montenegrin state and its assets were attacked and a guardian of virtues that are often forgotten.
"Vojo Stanić made a living in the real world and as a man experienced moments of happiness and disappointment. His artistic work will last for the pride of Montenegro," the announcement concludes.
