Exhibition "Around Consciousness" by a Montenegrin artist Radovan Grujić, designed as an ambient atelier - an intimate space where visitors have the opportunity not only to observe works of art, but also to peek into the world of the creative process, will open tonight in Podgorica, at the Perjanički Dom of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro (MSUCG), at 19 pm.
She is the curator of the exhibition Marina Celebic, and the author Radovan Grujić, as an artist of specific sensibility and expression, presents drawings, paintings and installations to the audience through which he explores layered existential, philosophical and social themes, the statement states.
"I wanted to convey the impressions from my unique journey through the home, which is also Radovan Grujić's studio, through this exhibition, believing that this is the best way to see the truths he recognizes about his consciousness," Čelebić emphasized.
The MSUCG announces that the exhibition is designed as an intimate space in which visitors can witness the complete artistic process.
"Through the reconstruction of the everyday environment in which the artist creates, the exhibition reveals his sources of inspiration, way of thinking, and deep connection with the materials and themes he deals with," the statement says.
In an earlier interview for "Vijesti", on the occasion of the purchase award of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro, which was awarded to him at the 79th Traditional Exhibition of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro (ULUCG) for the drawing "The Slanderer", Grujić announced an exhibition that he emphasized would be "shocking".

"There is no art without surprise, without intimidation, without incident. There is no art without non-repetition, without breaking away from everyday life, without resistance," Grujić emphasized on that occasion.
Thus, his work is characterized by strong narrative, a wealth of symbolism, references to events in society, as well as authentic and recognizable artistic poetics.
He once told Vijesti that his works are grounded in various ways, but also present in our everyday lives.
"I have been in art for about 30 years. I have a lot of experience behind me. The work 'Slanderer' or 'Slander' is at the same time a work of art and a social phenomenon that is present in our everyday lives, and archetypically present in all of humanity. All civilizations and all societies reject this type of behavior, thinking, and relationship towards other people with the greatest indignation," said Grujić, who, when asked how much of it is caricatured and how much is real, states that it is "total reality - absolute reality from the depths of being."
Grujić's oeuvre includes works in various techniques and formats, from figurative drawings with strong contour lines, through intensely colorful paintings, to installations created from collected, discarded objects, which gain a new identity through the artistic process.
"Works such as "Demon of War", "Black Sun", "Light of Consciousness", "Noah's Ark", as well as drawings inspired by historical and mythological figures, testify to the author's dedication to exploring invisible connections between the past, the present and universal truths. The exhibition "Around Consciousness" provides an opportunity for a unique experience and interaction with an artistic space that simultaneously evokes the spontaneity, introspection and creative restlessness characteristic of Grujić's work", announce the MSUCG.
Radovan Grujić was born in Podgorica in 1963. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Nikšić and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje in 1994 (Department of Painting), in the class of Professor Smaila Karaila. He has been a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro (ULUCG) since 1995. He has had several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous collective exhibitions.
At the 77th Traditional Exhibition of ULUCG, he was one of the winners of the "Milunović, Stijović, Lubarda" award for the work "Demon of Evil", while at the 79th Traditional Exhibition of ULUCG he was awarded the purchase prize of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro for the drawing "Slanderer".
He has been involved in art for over 30 years, but he does not call it a career, but rather a calling and a life that follows its own course.
