The play "No Woman's Land", produced by "Grada Teatar" and prepared in Budva through the "Creative Europe" program, was shown on May 8 at the "Theatro Circo" theater in the Portuguese city of Braga.
"A large audience welcomed the artistic and project team of 'City of Theatre' with open hearts, and with applause and ovations they greeted the play 'This is not a land for women' and the Montenegrin actresses Anđelija Rondović, Mirjana Spaić, Milica Kekić Martinović, Marija Liješević and Milica Šćepanović. As an introduction to the play, a conversation with the authors was held, during which those present had the opportunity to learn about the ways in which the director and playwright worked on the text of the adaptation of 'Skočiđevojka', and thus also about part of the cultural heritage of Montenegro," the Public Institution "City of Theatre" announced.
The play "This is No Country for Women", as stated by "Grad Teatar", was based on the short story "Skočiđevojka" by Stefan M. Ljubiša, directed by Laurent Bergé, with a text by Katja Faišku, and was presented as part of the program of the European Capital of Culture Braga 2025, in the theater that is one of the most important cultural symbols of Portugal, a meeting place for art, culture and community since 1915.
"The play will also be shown in the French city of Montpellier in early June, then at the 'Grad Teatar' festival, and in October at the Bosnian National Theatre in Zenica. In addition to the play 'This is not a land for women', in the period from 6 to 9 May, the plays 'Žive' by the text of Ajša Eza, directed by Julio Serdeira, 'Prelijep glas' by the text of Nedžma Čizmo, directed by Montenegrin director Minja Novaković, and 'Izađi i bori se' by the text of Montenegrin playwright Stela Mišković, directed by Lajka Kaikčija were also shown in Braga. These plays were created as a result of the project 'Sexual Theatre – A Feminist Readings of Classics', co-financed by the Creative Europe programme, in which the Public Institution 'Grad Teatar' is a partner together with the Bosnian National Theatre from Zenica (BiH), the Faz Kultura centre from Braga (Portugal) and the 'Paul Valéry' University from Montpellier (France)", point out the Public Institution 'Grad Teatar'.
