As part of the "Museum Night" event, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro is organizing a literary evening of a Montenegrin poet Boris Jovanovic Kastel. The program will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 20 p.m. in the Perjanički dom in Kruševac. Boris Jovanović Kastel is recognized as the most prominent Montenegrin poet of Mediterranean orientation and one of the key names in Mediterranean literature. He has published more than thirty books of poetry and essays, whose works have been translated into more than twenty languages. His poetry is present in numerous domestic and international anthologies, and his literary work is characterized by deep reflections on the Mediterranean, its cultures and the destinies of the peoples of this region. Kastel's work is recognized as a unique mosaic of southern destinies, where through luxurious tragedy and sunny pilgrimages one sails towards self-knowledge, through which the poet also considers human transience. His verses are not only a reflection of Montenegrin or South Slavic literature, but are poems that speak of universal themes, uniting all the peoples of the Mediterranean. Kastel is the recipient of numerous awards, including the "Ante Zemljar" award, and many literary theorists and writers, including Predrag Matvejević, emphasize the importance of his verses for the poetry of the Mediterranean. Speaking about Kastel, Matvejević pointed out: "If I had had your books in my hands earlier, some pages of my Breviary would have been different, better. I have been reading you with pleasure since before and I think - here is the leader of those who will say everything that is needed about the Adriatic and the Mediterranean after me, better than me". During the literary evening, Boris Jovanović Kastel will present his work, and he will read his verses Teodora Djukanovic, a graduate of the “Slobodan Škerović” high school. Admission is free.
