Retrospective exhibition of an academic graphic artist Dejana Mirković "Guardian of the Soul of Graphics" will open today in Cetinje, at 19 pm, at the Montenegrin Art Gallery "Miodrag Dado Đurić".
The exhibition, organized by the National Museum of Montenegro, will present Dejan Mirković's forty-year creative career through 80 works, following his artistic journey and development, from his early student works to his latest achievements.
"Through his contemporary artistic style, the artist has transformed reality into enigmatic fields of symbolic, sign and narrative layers, combining multiple graphic techniques in various formats - from miniatures to large dimensions - most often building in them the atmosphere of lonely lyrical melancholic spaces (houses, landscapes, fortresses...), to abstract formalizations with discrete associative elements (comets, corals)," the statement emphasizes.
The exhibition curator is an art historian. Slobodan Vusurovic, and will be open to the public until June 29th.
Dejan Mirković was born in Cetinje in 1957. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1989, in the class of prof. Boška KaranovićHe studied at Moscow State University (1997/99) and in Paris (1990). He briefly taught at the "Petar Lubarda" Secondary School in Cetinje. He was a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro since 1990 and a member of the "Ključ" art group.
He exhibited individually at about 20 exhibitions in Montenegro and Serbia and at numerous group exhibitions in the country and abroad, including the 17th International Biennial of Graphics in Sarcelles. He participated in several art colonies. He worked as an independent artist in Cetinje and Podgorica. He died in Podgorica in 2023.
