Croatian writer Vedrana Rudan passes away

Croatian writer, journalist, columnist and activist Vedrana Rudan has passed away after a difficult battle with cancer, at the age of 77, Zagreb portals announced today.

"Vedrana went to an area without signal," it was announced on the writer's official Facebook page.

Vedrana Rudan, a guest on the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT) show "Nedjeljom u 2", spoke about the illness and said that people who loved her should understand her death as "going to an area without a signal".

Vedrana Rudan was born on October 29, 1949 in Opatija and grew up in Mošćenička Draga. She completed her studies in Croatian and German at the Pedagogical Academy in Rijeka.

Before she became known to the general public, she worked in various jobs. She was a teacher, a tourist guide and a translator, and she spent most of her professional life in journalism and the media. She worked on the radio and wrote for Croatian newspapers and magazines. Over time, she became recognizable for her open manner of expression and comments on society, politics and everyday life. Her views often provoked reactions and controversy.
