Igor Golubović was elected president of the Municipality of Pljevlja by the votes of the councilors of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Social Democrats (SD) and the Bosniak Party.
Golubović will sit in the chair of the first man of the city after the former President of the Municipality Mirko Đačić resigned from that position on May 17, without stating the reasons for doing so.
Councilors from the Democrats, the Socialist People's Party (SNP), the Democratic Front (DF) and the Democratic People's Party (DNP) were against it.
Golubović was born in 1972 in Pljevlja. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Podgorica. He gained his first work experience in the coal mine, where after his internship he covered various positions in RJ Maintenance. He worked as a manager of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Directorate of Public Works, and was also an assistant to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Golubović moved to the position of the first man of the city from Rudnik Uglja, where he worked as the director of the Sector for Strategic Management and Business Transformation. Before that, he worked in EPCG and CEDIS in management positions in electricity distribution.
In his first address, he said that he will do his best to be the president of the Municipality to all the citizens of Pljevlja.
"Today, I have no intention of giving a speech and a lecture about problems with projects, the functioning of local self-government, the state of the environment and the financial problems of our municipality. Joint problem solving awaits us as soon as we leave this hall. I want to emphasize and underline that the doors of the Municipality of Pljevlja will be open to all those who are ready to give their personal contribution, point out the problem and propose their solution in order to create a better and more beautiful Pljevlja, regardless of their political affiliation. Given that I worked in the Municipality, and I think I know the work of local government relatively well, I am aware of the numerous challenges we have and the projects we have to implement. I emphasize once again that I will do my best to turn all of us together to give the maximum contribution to the development of the Municipality with the desire that people come to Pljevlja and stay," said Golubović.
Golubović said that he is sure that there will be plenty of time to celebrate, but also to make difficult decisions.
"Pljevlje is an environment with age-old religious and national tolerance, rich history, urban lifestyle and culture, but also the most beautiful environment with huge potential for development, which is why together we should try to get rid of all prejudices in order to make a maximum contribution to the enrichment of cultural and sports of life by solving environmental problems, valorization of natural potentials, better quality and meaningful life in the countryside, improvement of infrastructure, but also optimization and regionalization of all jobs related to the work of local administration. I want to send a message to the citizens of Pljevlja to ignore political reasons and everything that does not unite us and establish a dignified dialogue full of personal respect and daily cooperation. This I promise you will have from me. Also, in the end, I want to thank the former president of the municipality for all that he has done so far," said the newly elected president of the municipality of Pljevlja.
Golubović said that he will not respond to the insults that some opposition councilors made against him during the discussion, stating that it is not his level.
Democrat councilor Nikola Rovčanin believes that Golubović will protect the interests of the Government, not the Municipality of Pljevlja.
The election of Golubović as the first man of the town for DNP councilor Vladislav Bojović is a mockery of the citizens of Pljevlja, because he was not chosen by the Municipal Board, but by the headquarters of the DPS in Podgorica.
"Golubović was nominated because the central government has him in hand and because he is prone to various frauds, and a criminal complaint has been filed against him. He will have two tasks - to keep quiet, listen and influence Pljevljak. "Golubović agreed to play a role because he estimated that he could personally profit as the president of the municipality," said Bojović.
He said that Golubović belonged to a working local government that caused the most damage to Pljevlja, owing it 21 million euros.
Bojović also said that with his resignation, the former mayor of Pljevlja, Mirko Đačić, told the citizens that they should no longer support the current government.
Member of the SD Mersudin Halilović believes that Golubović is a good personnel solution and expects that he will perform the job of the municipal president professionally and professionally.
"We expect that they will continue the activities they started. The former president raised the standard," said Halilović.
Councilor Nova Milan Lekić believes that the Municipality of Pljevlja is on the verge of bankruptcy and that it is facing a crisis of all kinds. He said that this situation did not arise overnight, but that the Democratic Party of Socialists is solely to blame for it.
Deocrat councilor Bojan Krvavac believes that DPS appoints people who respond to them. He called on Golubović to answer when the heating of Pljevlja will be done, how he will solve the financial problems of the Municipality, the debt of Vektra Jakić and how he will revitalize public companies that are in serious trouble.
Even councilor Nova Slavica Batizić does not expect that the new president will do anything more than what has been done so far, and councilor Deokrat Milojica Tešović said that he expected the majority of the assembly to offer the citizens a proposal for measures to get Pljevlja out of the current situation, in addition to the biography of the new president. .
