President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović will pay a working visit to Cyprus today and tomorrow, at the invitation of the country's President Nikos Christodoulides.

As announced by Milatović's cabinet, the key topic of the conversation will be the further intensification of Montenegro's European integration process, with a focus on the next steps in drafting the Treaty on Accession to the European Union (EU), after the formation of an ad hoc working group for its preparation.

"The conversation will also be focused on strengthening political, institutional and expert cooperation between Montenegro and Cyprus, with the aim of accelerating the reform process and successfully completing the EU membership negotiations," the statement said.

As it is added, on this occasion, the upcoming EU-Western Balkans Summit will also be discussed, which will be held for the first time in Montenegro since the start of accession negotiations.

Milatović's office said that the visit to Cyprus represents a continuation of intensive political dialogue and confirmation of good and friendly relations between the two countries.

"Milatović already paid an official visit to Cyprus in 2024, while Christodoulidis reciprocated with a visit to Montenegro in 2025, which confirms the continuity and high level of mutual political dialogue," the statement said.

Milatović's cabinet stressed that more intensive cooperation with all EU member states is of strategic importance for dynamizing Montenegro's European path and successfully completing accession negotiations.
