Perić: Our model does not mean a coalition, DNP and DPS did not condition support

The president of the Preokret movement, Srđan Perić, said today that they have received public support from the Democratic People's Party (DNP) and written support from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).

He said at a press conference that they have some more indications of support, which meets the conditions for the election of the President of the Capital City Assembly.

He reiterated that they were seeking support for a model that does not mean a coalition, but rather the election of the Speaker of the Parliament and a way out of the crisis in Podgorica.

He said that the DNP and DPS did not condition their support.

Perić said that he expects that one of the first items on the agenda of the Capital City Assembly will be a report on the work of the Mayor of Podgorica and the work of city enterprises, on which further steps will depend.

He stated that a meeting with the heads of the councilors' clubs has been scheduled for Monday, June 15th, and that he expects the session to be scheduled for next Thursday, June 18th, when they expect other parties to make their statements.

"We need the support of citizens and we need the support of councilors, because this means changing the rules of the game in the sense that we return to the framework of the law and simply have control of the government," said Perić.

He said that this is not a model that only Preokret can present.

"This is a model that should be presented by all councilors. This means that we have prevented forced administration. This means that we have an open city administration for citizen initiatives. This means that the report from the mayor to the company director is evaluated. This means that regulations related to preventing partitocracy are adopted. This means that regulations related to the selection of the best in companies are adopted. This also means that we have elections in local communities announced at least in the next five to six months," he said.

"Vijesti" announced today that the DPS and the European Union have supported Perić for the presidency of the Capital City Assembly.

On June 11, the DNP announced that it would support Perić for the presidency of the Capital City Assembly in a technical mandate.

In order for Perić to be a candidate for the President of the Capital City Assembly, he needs to receive 20 votes. In order to be the President, he needs to be voted for by 30 councilors.

DPS has 19 councilors, the European Alliance three, the DNP four and Preokret two.

"Vijesti" wrote yesterday that the Capital City Assembly could convene next week.

According to the same editorial sources, the collegium of heads of councilor clubs, during which the agenda items will be agreed upon, will be held on Monday, June 15.

Even on June 10, the parties within the ruling majority were unable to agree on a candidate for the President of the Capital City Assembly.

Jelena Borovinić Bojović resigned as President of the Capital City Assembly on May 26th.

The Capital City Assembly has not been in session since April 16th.
