Where to first?
There's no better start than Marienplatz – Munich's central square, surrounded by historic buildings, shops and restaurants. At noon, watch the tower New city halls (Neues Rathaus) sounds the famous “glockenspiel”, while small figures perform a traditional dance. Old-fashioned? Maybe. But charming? Absolutely.

It's a little further away. viktualienmarkt, a vibrant market where the smells of fresh sausage, cheese and spices mingle with the laughter of tourists and locals. It's here that you realize that Munich is a city where life is not rushed – it's savored.

A city for the soul and a bicycle
Munich has the soul of nature. English garden, larger even than Central Park, stretches across the north of the city and offers the perfect place to relax. Some soak up the sun along the Isar River, others play chess on giant wooden boards, while still others, surprisingly, surf – on an artificial wave under a small bridge.
In the heart of the park is Chinese Turm, where you can sit in the beer garden, order a liter of "Weißbier" and eat a pretzel bigger than your plate. If you thought you'd be looked at strangely for drinking beer at noon - in Munich, no one will even notice you.

Culture, cars and royal splendor
For history and art lovers, it is recommended Residenz (Castle in the center of Munich), a former royal palace. The rooms are decorated in such a way that you can almost smell the gunpowder from the old halls. There is also Old Pinakothek, for those interested in masterpieces by European artists.
If you're more attracted to chrome bumpers than baroque arches – BMW Museum is the right place for you. It is close enough Olympic Park, ideal for a panoramic view from the tower or a leisurely walk.

And for those whose heart leads them to the ball – Allianz Arena (Football stadium of Bayern Munich) is a temple of modern football. Guided tours of the FC Bayern stadium, even if you're not a fan, are worth every cent.
When you get hungry...
Munich is not a place where you count calories. Order schweinshaxe (roasted pork shank), try it white sausage (Weißwurst) with sweet mustard and don't miss it Apfelstrudel for dessert. Wash it all down with beer, of course.

If you want an authentic experience, stop by Hofbräuhaus, the most famous beer hall in the city. There, with live music, waiters in leather pants and mugs in hand, you'll feel like you've wandered into a movie set – but you won't want to leave.
And how much does it all cost?
Munich isn't as cheap as Eastern European cities, but with good planning, a weekend can be organized for a surprisingly decent budget:
-
Return flight from Podgorica: from €50
-
Bus Memmingen–Minhen: from €11 per direction
-
Accommodation (3 nights, 2 people): from €180 in decent hotels or Airbnb options
-
Public transport (3 days): about €20
-
Food and tickets: flexible – from 60 to 100 € per person
A city where people live slowly, but with a smile
Munich won't overwhelm you like Paris. It won't shock you like Berlin. Instead, it will offer you quiet pleasure – a walk, sunshine in the park, the sound of beer glasses clinking, the smell of bread and the feeling of being welcome.
For a weekend getaway from Podgorica, there's hardly a city that offers more – and for less. Just pack your backpack, book your ticket and go. Munich awaits.
