The first preliminary results of the seventh local elections in BiH confirmed that Mladen Grujicic, an independent candidate with the support of all Serbian parties, received 51 percent of the votes in Srebrenica, while the current mayor Ćamil Duraković received 48,2 percent of the votes.
The situation in Srebrenica was tense tonight - a group of Bosniaks, supporters of Duraković, stood in the central town square, while supporters of his opponent, Grujičić, celebrated the victory in a nearby cafe.
As reported by regional television N1, there was a police cordon between the cafe and the group of Bosniaks, which, according to the video, was equipped to break up the demonstrations.
Supporters of Grujičić also gathered in front of the cafe, shouting "victory", while Duraković was in the election headquarters.
Everyone is waiting for the results of the elections in Srebrenica.
Grujičić said earlier today that he has many more votes than Duraković, and Duraković that it is still too early to assess and that the votes of the "absentee" and those who vote by mail will decide.
However, SNSD president Milorad Dodik said at a press conference in Banja Luka that no "bag" that should come from outside can threaten the result achieved by Grujicic.
Bosniak leader Bakir Izetbegović and Duraković do not accept that the head of Srebrenica will be a Serbian candidate. They are betting that Durakovic will win when the diaspora votes arrive.
N1 claims that Durakovic's supporters are in fear. According to that television, they are not sure what Srebrenica would look like if Grujicic wins.
Duraković claims that nothing would be the same and that Bosniaks would start moving out of Srebrenica in that case.
