Republika Srpska Minister of Internal Affairs Dragan Lukač said today that the directors of security agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina and CIA Director John Brennan discussed the global fight against terrorism and the best possible cooperation of all police agencies in this matter at a meeting in Sarajevo.
"It is good that we and the high-ranking guest exchanged opinions and our experiences in the fight against terrorism," said Lukač, RTRS reported.
He told the Sarajevo press that, at a time when even much more developed countries than Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose security and police systems are far more equipped than the ones available to the competent agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, are facing problems in the fight against terrorism, the very arrival of the director of the American agency CIA in BiH represents a kind of positive message.
"Mr. Brennan's visit itself, and what we heard, is enough of a message of how important Bosnia and Herzegovina is to the USA, and we certainly have to keep that in mind," Lukač concluded.
Director of SIPA BiH Perica Stanić said that Brenan gave full support to BiH and its law enforcement institutions in the fight against terrorism yesterday at a working meeting with the leaders of security agencies in BiH.
According to the Director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH Mirsad Vilic, the meeting discussed the cooperation and coordination of police agencies in BiH, foreign fighters, radicalization, de-radicalization, the Strategy of BiH in the fight against terrorism, as well as the results achieved in this field.
He stated that BiH's readiness for cooperation in the fight against terrorism was particularly emphasized, as well as the importance of the fact that the Islamic community in BiH also contributes to the fight against this scourge.
RTRS states that, according to unofficial information reported by the press, Brenan should visit the Intelligence and Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina today and talk to the director of that agency, Osman Mehmedagić.
