Fahrudin Radončić was arrested

The State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), acting on the order of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), arrested Fahrudin Radončić, reports N1 television.

He is suspected of the criminal offense of obstruction of justice.

Along with the arrest, searches are carried out at several locations by order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As N1 reports, Radončić's cottage and the floors of the tower, which he used for his own purposes, were searched.

Earlier, Radončić's candidate for Minister of Transport was arrested on suspicion of obstructing the work of the judiciary in the case against Naser Keljmendi.

Radončić is the founder of the influential Bosnian daily "Dnevni avaz" and is considered close to Prime Minister Milo Đukanović.

Šejla Turković said earlier at the trial that Radončić promised the organizers of the murder of Ramiz Delalić Ćela that he would provide them with media logistics and a prosecutor who would lead the investigation in the wrong direction.

Turković said before the court in Pristina that Radonicič asked for Delalić's murder and that the killers were paid 100.000 euros. Turković claims that Keljmendi and Radončić wanted Delalić's death because they feared that he could leak stories about their affairs to the media. She claims that Delalić knew a lot about Keljmendi's drug dealings, but also about Radončić's suspicious enrichment during the war.

Turković said that Keljmendi financed Radončić's candidacy for the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the construction of a large tower in Sarajevo.

At this moment, in order to protect the investigation, the BiH Prosecutor's Office and SIPA cannot provide more information to the public.

SBB: The goal is to destabilize the Bosniak political factor and Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Alliance for a Better Future (SBB), of which Radončić is the leader, strongly condemned, as stated, "the wanton abuse of the rule of law by individuals from the judicial mafia."

"The arrest of SBB president Fahrudin Radončić is an extremely inappropriate demonstration of force and an unprecedented way of trying to eliminate political opponents by family-criminal clans and renegade power centers," the statement said.

SBB, it is further emphasized, is completely convinced that Radončić is absolutely innocent, and that it is a "reckless political montage whose goal is the destabilization of the Bosniak political factor, and thus the destabilization of Bosnia and Herzegovina."

"It is indicative that at a time when we are witnessing the stabilization of conditions in the Federation and Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole, when the new coalition began to open the European perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina and create an environment for a better and more prosperous future for all citizens, on the scene we have a brutal abuse of the institutions and levers of the judicial system" , the announcement states.

SBB announced that it will use all democratic instruments and mechanisms of political struggle to "disclose the vile assembly and unmask the rampage of criminal elements in judicial and family-criminal structures in BiH".

"We are sure that this shameful act of the judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina will eventually lead to the unraveling and dismantling of the criminal milieu embodied in the ties of severely convicted criminals and renegade structures in the Court and the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the announcement reads.

Dnevni avaz: Brutal pressure on media freedom, we were not afraid

SIPA raided the premises of the editorial office of "Dnevni avaza" in Tešanjska street in Sarajevo today, shortly before 15 p.m., where they conducted a search.

"This is a brutal pressure on media freedom and an attempt to intimidate, considering that in addition to the inspectors, SIPA special forces armed with long pipes raided the editorial office of "Dnevni avaza". There was no need for such a demonstration of force over our journalists and editors, because "Dnevni avaz" and its publisher "Avaz-roto press" are known for their highly professional and transparent work, without a single stain in their 20-year history. In this regard, the SIPA investigators, as in some earlier cases, had the opportunity to get all the necessary information from us in time, and there was no need for any raids," the Editorial Board of "Dnevni avaza" announced.

They added that in this case, as in last year's raid on the Klix newsroom, it was an attempt at notorious police intimidation of our editors and journalists, which had been attempted on several occasions before.

"Dnevni avaz" is the most widely circulated newspaper in Bosnia and Herzegovina, known for its uncompromising anti-corruption journalism, which during its two decades of publication managed to expose numerous scandals and thus help democratize society.
